What is integrative medicine?
Integrative medicine is a patient-centered approach and way of medical practice that focuses on the whole person, not just the condition or disease in question. It is based on understanding the cause or causes of the person's symptoms or condition, assessing the organism as a whole: body, mind and spirit. To this end, integrative medicine uses an evidence-based and experience-based approach.
Integrative medicine takes into account and addresses many factors, the whole set of influences on a person, of a physical, emotional, social, spiritual, environmental and food safety nature, that can affect their health.
Taking into account the multiplicity and complexity of the various aspects that must be addressed, in an effort to improve the patient's health and well-being, integrative medicine combines various therapies, both conventional (such as drugs and psychotherapy) and complementary therapies (acupuncture, aromatherapy), optimum in effectiveness and safety. In addition, it also considers lifestyle changes, "integrating" all aspects of a person's well-being, for healing and long-term health benefits.
This integrative approach aims to provide the quality of equal partners in the healing process in the relationships between the patient and the medical professionals.
